Whale headclub Bridal Portraits: Corolla NC

December 9, 2016 Skylar Charman

My gorgeous friend Chelsea her rocked her wedding gown (one very Hot summer night in July) We were battling the weather but luckily God shined down and created the most epic evening for us!! The back of this dress is just stunning, any classic bride would swoon over it! She created the perfect look for a Gatsby inspired wedding which took place in November.

I adore this girl so much and am so glad I got to be apart of her magical day!

Chelsea & Cody: Gatsby at the Vineyard

November 7, 2016 Skylar Charman

These two are the definition an adorable, amazing, sweet couple! When I first met them at good ole Starbucks, I knew they were going to be wonderful to work with. They both attended and just graduated from ECU (go pirates!) and are now school teachers. Chelsea's vision for a  Gatsby themed wedding came to life at Sanctuary Vineyards. Gold and black details with pearls and shimmering twinkle lights draped around the room. It was an absolute Gorgeous day. After all of the crazy weather we tackled during our other sessions they both deserved that beautiful day.

I feel that they are part of my family since they have been with me  during my whole pregnancy season, from our FREEZING 20 degree engagement session at the windy Whalehead club (my chin was so frozen it was turning purple... I cannot even make that up and pretty sure these two were numb to the core) to Chelseas gorgeous bridals during the hottest summer of the year ( we all prayed I wouldn't pop that baby out going over the bridge) to their gorgeous big day at the vineyard. They have been a dream to work with. Cheers to many happy years Mr and Mrs Eaves!

A Gold, mint and blush romantic Portsmouth Womans Club Wedding: Jessica & Aaron

August 15, 2016 Skylar Charman

Jessica and Aaron first laid eyes on eachother at crossfit. After Aaron popped the question on the beach to Jessica (where he had her sisters remove her blindfold and the rest of their family surrounding them) the wedding planning began. These two planned the most gorgeous summer event with warm tones of Gold, mint and blushes. What better setting than the Woman's club of Portsmouth to exchange vows under the warm glow of  those classic chandeliers?!

Now when you are engaged to a Police officer you can find super creative ways to decorate your dessert table. Jessica chose to decorate their cake table  with colorful donuts of every flavor your sweet tooth can imagine. Amazingly Glazed outdid themselves with the donut bar. Fluttering flowers did not disappoint with their flowers and timeless centerpieces that consisted of gold elements with blush flowers, mint and pinks (check out the arch with the hanging carnations...STUNNING!).

When you see these two together you just instantly feel their love for one another. When they first caught a glimpse of one another walking down the aisle you could see the tears in their eyes.

After the ceremony and formal photos, DJ Barry Mckay helped the couple bust out on the dance floor with some killer moves, from twirls to jumps, they nailed it! Check out the moves Jessica's dad has? I could not leave out the matron of honor speech/song that Jessica's sisters knocked out of the park with their own lyrics written to the beat of the lion king song,  and their epic dance... with a polite mic drop at the end haha!

There is nothing better than photographing a couple who truly loves each other. It was an honor to capture your big day! Cheers to many years of happiness Jessica & Aaron!!

Jean & Jason: The Vineyard Estate at New Kent Winery Summer wedding

July 20, 2016 Skylar Charman

Over coffee and cornbread, Jean and Jason fell in love. It's just that simple when it's right! Which brings us to a brilliant sunny day in July....where two families became one. The Vintager Inn in New Kent, Virginia provided the perfectly beautiful rustic setting for the binding of hearts. Flanked on either side by rolling green meadows and vineyards, this historic home, built in 1855, bore witness to the exchange of vows, as did family and friends. The wedding party, mostly made up of their beautiful children, meandered down the garden path to the pergola. Wooden signs pointed the way and the children even carried sweet signs of their own. Not only was the ceremony for the well-booted bride and groom, but their children took part as well, pouring sand together to symbolize the blending of their families. Dragonflies danced throughout, as though they too were overjoyed. Three deer stopped by to share the day and listened silently from across the field. After taking full advantage of their beautiful surroundings for photos, the wedding party was introduced in the big red barn, complete with chandeliers and globe lights draping the rafters. From the tree stump cake stand bearing their initials to the wooden place settings, not a detail was missed. The guests wrote their well-wishes on giant Jenga pieces, each guest a piece to their puzzle, making their lives together complete and blessed. After a truly Southern supper, the bride and groom first danced with each other and then with their children. The Matron of Honor, Tricia, gave a touching speech that left not a dry eye in the room. This was followed by her husband, Mike's words of wisdom for the newlyweds. Then the dancing....and games, and laughter, and conga line. Yes, conga line! There was even a fire outside for making s'mores, ATV rides, and a corn-hole board. This was an action-packed wedding! It was a perfect celebration for a couple so full of happiness and love. As the evening wound down, the couple was embraced by their wedding guests in an enormous group hug and then ran through showers of sparklers to end the night. It was quite a perfect ending to a perfect day....congratulations Jean and Jason!

Vistapoint Wedding Norfolk VA: Molly and Derek

July 10, 2016 Skylar Charman
portraits.jpg

It was love at first sight. On a beach in Sarasota, Florida in 2013 Molly and Derek instantly knew that they had both found something special. Time nor distance could keep this sweet couple apart and in just 6 months, Derek proposed on Christmas morning surrounded by Molly's family. Flash forward to June 2016 at Vista Point in Norfolk, Virginia. A beautiful bride gets ready with the help of her beloved corgis. They make the day extra special and seem to understand the importance of the event about to take place.  The sweeping views are breathtaking as the sun begins its slow descent into the horizon. The Chesapeake Bay glimmers in the background, overshadowed only by the glowing couple declaring their love for one another. Surrounded by family and friends, Derek and Molly exchanged their vows. Even the wind played an important role. Though it was an uninvited guest, the photos were made even better by its unexpected arrival. It was a truly magical ceremony.  The bride is not only beautiful, but talented too! All of the bouquets and table settings were her creations! That's not all, she even made her own three-tiered wedding cake with gorgeous white flowers cascading down the side. It was a work of art and a labor of love. They celebrated into the evening and danced until the very last song. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day. Congratulations, Derek and Molly!
