OH how we love celebrating baby bumps! This is such a sweet time. During your maternity session, we get to know you and your family a bit more before your little babe arrives. We do suggest photographing your maternity session between 28-32nd week mark. To start the booking process click here!

The Newborn

Experience

See below for some common questions about our newborn sessions.

Where does the newborn session take place?

We have three options when it comes to documenting your newborn.

  1. Blackwater Place is our studio where we provide props such as swaddles, baskets, backdrops etc. This session is where the newborn is posed in 2-3 scenes. Some poses may not achievable depending on the newborn’s flexibility or mood.

  2. Your home for a “lifestyle newborn session.” This includes your family in your own element. No posing of newborn will be done. You provide the clothes, props and backdrops. A couple example of these photos are your family sitting on a bed holding the baby or your newborn laying in his/her crib.

  3. Third option is a combination of the “Lifestyle Newborn session plus ” at your home with the addition of posed newborn photos with photographers props. This is where we bring a select amount of props( swaddles, baskets etc) to your house from studio.

**We encourage you to bring any sentimental items such as knitted blankets or outfits that you would like to incorporate into your babe’s session that we may not have. Please feel free to show us visuals or photos of items you purchased for the session so we can help coordinate.

When is the best time to document your newborn?

We typically suggest scheduling your newborn session around their 14th day of life. If you have a premature little one, you can stretch out those weeks since they tend to stay in that flexed position longer and love their sleep.

Can our have family portraits taken with the baby?

Yes, We do allow family portraits & sibling portraits as part of your newborn package. We suggest starting with the family portraits first, that way older siblings can run off and play. (We also have a stash of fun non messy toys for toddler siblings at our studio to dabble into while they wait)

What Backdrops do you have at your studio?

We supply an all white backdrop, wooden backdrop and cream shiplap wall.
