A blushing pink sunset Sandbridge wedding

September 20, 2017 Skylar Scott
Sturdivant-9223.jpg

Demond and Melissa met on  8.23.03 at the Post office in Pittsburgh they both worked at.

They dated on and off for several years. After parting ways for a couple years they realized that there was no one else they would rather be with. These two ended up getting back together and tied the knot 14 years later on the same day!

These two traveled down to Virginia Beach along with close family and friends to witness their marriage. Wouldn't you know the WHOLE week was absolutely gorgeous weather, until Wednesday afternoon hit... their wedding day. Luckily these two have extremely great luck now because their Knot is super tight!

Even though the dark thunderheads rolled in and lighting danced around the beach house, these two were able to exchange vows under their arch with the ocean as their backdrop here in Sandbridge VA. Fellow neighbors cheered them on from their balcony's and even set up a bubble machine as they walked down the aisle.

Melissa & Demond have three of the most gorgeous girls you have ever seen, Mariah, Gianna and Leah and their fur son, Max (who you can see sporting his tie during the ceremony!)

Demond still works at the post office and Melissa is now a home care Nurse.

Kayla & Brandon :Military Aviation Museum, Pungo Virgini

September 6, 2017 Skylar Scott

It poured the morning of Brandon Soto and Kayla Bond's wedding. The rain was so heavy that it ran in rivers down dirt driveways and washed across the country lanes  that wind through the cornfields and farm stands of Pungo. They weren't worried one bit. Miraculously, the clouds parted and the sun streamed through in all of its golden glory just in time for the ceremony. The Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach seemed the only place fit for this wedding. The daughter of an F-14 Navy pilot, Kayla grew up around airplanes and traditions. Naturally, instead of walking down the aisle like a million other brides.....Kayla and her father rolled up to the ceremony in a red WWII era Waco biplane. Of course! The groom, with a smile from ear to ear, stood patiently waiting for his beautiful bride to step down out of the cockpit and into his open arms. At sunset they exchanged vows next to the runway.

Afterwards, they were all joined by family and friends overlooking the ceremony site to celebrate. Not to be outdone by an airplane, the mother of the bride, a mechanical engineer, also known for her magic in the kitchen, unveiled the Pittsburgh cookie table. Over 20 different kinds of cookies were spread from end to end on pedestals and trays....all baked lovingly by Kayla's mother, grandmother, aunts, and family friend. It was a sight to behold! The wedding party and guests danced the night away, a blur of deep plum satin and bowties. For the father-daughter dance, the bride and her very tall father walked somberly to the dance floor, only to surprise everyone with a perfectly choreographed Macarena. It was yet another surprise for this one of a kind wedding. What else would you expect from a bride and groom who met while operating a 30,000 pound vehicle? Nothing short of amazing! Congratulations to the newly married Mr. and Mrs. Soto!

Stefan & Leah: A Backyard wedding under the stars Virginia beach VA

August 2, 2017 Skylar Scott

Can we just stop and swoon over this beautiful backyard vintage dream of a wedding?!!!

Both sides of this wonderful family worked together to create an intimate, outdoor celebration for Leah and Stefan. Their family business, Malbon Brothers BBQ , catered this backyard event at the groom's parents house. It could not have been more beautiful!

The groom's talented Aunts, Cathy and Susan, were the creative masterminds of this backyard affair. From the pastel color-kissed arrangements sprinkled around the backyard, to a weathered ladder draped with flowers and wooden letters that spelled LOVE strategically placed next to a spectacular white antique mirror, every detail made this wedding spectacular and personal. The elegant cream and floral cake created by Shortcakes Sweets took center stage perched upon a lovely white buffet for all to admire surrounded by the bridal bouquets.

Guests could be found sitting on vintage seating under a lush green tree with twinkle lights. The photos of Stefan and Leah's missing loved ones were displayed atop a white dresser and their souls tiptoed through the breeze to celebrate in spirit.

Their story began with a sprinkling of serendipitous encounters. On their first date, they went to lunch and realized they were both reading the same Game of Thrones book. Now, though this is not entirely the reason, Stefan knew right then that this amazing woman was the one. He even went home and told his mother, "I think I just had lunch with your future daughter in law."

Leah quickly found out what a sweet hearted and genuine person Stefan was and just how much they had in common. Mostly, Leah's heart knew he was the one when Petey, her first four-legged hairy love, decided he loved Stephan too! Petey and Leah agreed that this man was a keeper.

It was a beautiful sun-drenched day and the rain even held its breath for these two to join their lives together. Vows were exchanged at the edge of the backyard pond, complete with a cascading fountain, while their families and closest friends joined in celebrating their happiness. Petey even got to join in towards the end of the night for family portraits...pink bowtie included!

Congratulations Stefan & Leah!!

Jody & Robert: A Rustic Bling event at the Historic Post Office Hampton VA

July 12, 2017 Skylar Scott
barber-38339.jpg

Jody and Robert tied the knot at United Central Methodist church and continued their party a the Historic post office.

Jody's coworker (who happens to be one of her friends) Jamie had mentioned this really great guy she had grown up with but Jody wasn't interested. Mainly because she did not want to hurt Jamie's feelings if he ended up being "weird" or she just did not like him from the start.

The topic of Robert came up for about 5 years. The timing was never right until one day Robert became single and Jamie played matchmaker! The first evening Robert & Jody spoke they chatted until 3 am and had their first date one week later. The rest is history.

Now on to the proposal story straight from Jody's mouth:

Robert asked me if I would like to go on a hike sometime and I said yah. We ended up at Crabtree Falls near Charlottesville. It was 1.7 miles up along the falls to the top. I complained the entire time! Lol. When we got to the top of the falls we stopped at the overlooks to look down at the falls.  I was looking over the railing and I could see Robert in my peripheral vision but wasn't pay attention.  He finally called my name and I turned around and he was down on one knee with the ring out and he said " will you marry me". I screamed and cried like a baby and of course of said yes!!!!

And now you can check out their day at the gorgeous Historic Post Office.

A Vintage Spring Country Wedding: MeadowBrooke Farm, Suffolk VA

June 28, 2017 Skylar Scott
emilyrichard-29203.jpg

Emily & Rich met in college at the iconic Peppermint Beach Club during a rock concert in the fall of 2008. Through mutual friends, they kept running into each other at different events and concerts and began getting to know each other. They added each other on MySpace (remember that?! haha!) and began a modern romance, via text and AOL messenger....the rest, as they say, is history!

Rich proposed in November 2015 at his family's house on the water in North Carolina. As it is used only as a vacation home, they have to turn on the water and square things away upon arrival. He surprised Emily by asking her to go into the house and turn the air on while he brought in the bags. When she unlocked the door, Emily found that all of the rooms were decorated with photographs they had taken from all seven years they had been dating. A string connected all of the rooms and led out onto the back porch. There, surrounded by Christmas lights, with their song playing softly in the background, was Rich on one knee! Pretty romantic!!

To avoid the summer heat, the couple planned a spring wedding.....only to have their special day challenge record temperatures of 90 degrees! Despite the heat, the April day was full of sunshine and smiles! Held at the beautiful Meadowbrook Farm in Suffolk, Virginia that dates back to the mid-1800s, family and friends shared in Rich and Emily's celebration of love. As the bride and groom prepared for the ceremony in the Georgian style brick farmhouse, the bride began to receive surprise gifts on the hour. From Mr. and Mrs. coffee cups to custom made wedding cookies shaped like the bride's dress (complete with milk in little glass jugs with the cutest little straws), the bride was reminded often that she holds a special place in Rich's heart. After an outdoor ceremony on the lawn beneath a towering pecan tree, the couple joined their loved-ones to celebrate. In a rustic white barn, draped with globe lights that seemed to drip languidly from the high exposed beams, Rich and Emily shared their first dance as husband and wife. The setting sun took witness and silently dipped into the horizon while guests enjoyed soda in glass bottles, a photo spot complete with vintage velvet furniture, and a most elegant cake atop an antique stove. Yellow tulips smiled from every lace covered table and brought with them Spring's promise of new beginnings. This was a wedding that filled everyone's hearts with joy. Best wishes to this sweet couple and to many more spring times filled with happiness!
