A Classic white garden wedding at the Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach

Cali and Ryan

Sneaking up to the Belle tower to watch these two share a couple of kisses under a September sky will always be a favorite wedding moment for my business.

I met Cali & Ryan on the Eastern shore almost a year ago to document their engagement portraits . I hadn’t seen them until this past weekend and walking into the bridal suite I was greeted by Cali’s big hug. She is one of a kind with her warmth and fun sense of humor which makes complete sense why Ryan came back to swoop this girl off of her feet once they finished college.

The two were married in the famous sunken garden at the Cavalier hotel. Surrounded by white flowers of all types and clear and white chiavari chairs for guests to sit in. It was as breathtaking scene.

Ryan and his guys enjoyed cigars on the balcony with his dad reminiscing about the days he use to coach baseball with all of these boys who now stood by his sons side. Cali danced the night away with all of her family and friends under the glittery chandeliers and white dance floor. It was an honor to be a part of your day.

Congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs Bono!

A night under the Stars at the Cavalier hotel : Wedding Celebration of two cultures

Michael

and

Chen

Michael and Chen celebrated their nuptials at this historic cavalier hotel. They chose this place after Michael’s Aunt suggested it. Family and close friends flew in from all over the country.

The two wanted to create a magical evening under the stars while blending American and Chinese wedding traditions. Studio Posy created a vibrant floral piece with each flower and color chosen specifically to symbolize something meaningful for the couple. It was the backdrop where the couple exchanged their vows and performed their Chinese tea ceremony.

Chen’s parents were unable to attend the tea ceremony but were there via zoom and interacted (even passed a tea cup and napkin through the screen!) to honor Chen’s Chinese tradition.

Michael’s four nieces sang a beautiful song to guests to wrap up their ceremony….

As the evening progressed, so did the uplighting which revealed the theme for a night under the stars. It began with hues of candlelight and changed to deep rich blues to signal the night getting later. The couple was welcomed into the reception space after Chen changed into her traditional Chinese Wedding dress. Guests lined the dance floor and waived their firefly lanterns while the Dickens Band sang all evening.

At the end of the evening, Michael whisked Chen through the pathway lit by firefly jars and straight to the getaway car which ended up being Chen’s wedding gift, her dream VW Beetle.

A huge thank you to Emily Weddings for keeping the night flawless, Blue steel lighting, The Dickens band and Studio posy and Incredible edibles for your talent!
