A night under the Stars at the Cavalier hotel : Wedding Celebration of two cultures

Michael

and

Chen

Michael and Chen celebrated their nuptials at this historic cavalier hotel. They chose this place after Michael’s Aunt suggested it. Family and close friends flew in from all over the country.

The two wanted to create a magical evening under the stars while blending American and Chinese wedding traditions. Studio Posy created a vibrant floral piece with each flower and color chosen specifically to symbolize something meaningful for the couple. It was the backdrop where the couple exchanged their vows and performed their Chinese tea ceremony.

Chen’s parents were unable to attend the tea ceremony but were there via zoom and interacted (even passed a tea cup and napkin through the screen!) to honor Chen’s Chinese tradition.

Michael’s four nieces sang a beautiful song to guests to wrap up their ceremony….

As the evening progressed, so did the uplighting which revealed the theme for a night under the stars. It began with hues of candlelight and changed to deep rich blues to signal the night getting later. The couple was welcomed into the reception space after Chen changed into her traditional Chinese Wedding dress. Guests lined the dance floor and waived their firefly lanterns while the Dickens Band sang all evening.

At the end of the evening, Michael whisked Chen through the pathway lit by firefly jars and straight to the getaway car which ended up being Chen’s wedding gift, her dream VW Beetle.

A huge thank you to Emily Weddings for keeping the night flawless, Blue steel lighting, The Dickens band and Studio posy and Incredible edibles for your talent!

An Elegant Barn August Wedding in Virginia Beach VA

Kristin

and Matt

Culpepper Barn

A mutual friend thought it would be a great idea for these two to meet. Little did Kristin know, that her soon to be future husband, Matt was already on her Facebook friend list. The two set up a date to meet two weeks later and hit it off.

The proposal was planned and executed with Matt’s best friend’s help. They tricked Kristin into thinking they were exploring sunflower fields one day. Matt and his buddy had this proposal so planned out that they even had a code word for snapping the photos.

Clearly Kristin said yes and began planning her summer barn wedding under the twinkle lights with the help of Jamie Leigh Events. The weather was very unpredictable per usual in Virginia Beach. That did not stop these two from celebrating with their family and friends all night long dancing to DJ Danny. You can tell how strong their love is for their family by the laughter and happy tears shared throughout the reception that evening. Luckily the storm broke away before their grand sparkler exit send off into the Brides fathers white corvette.

Cheers to happily ever after Kristin and Matt!

Special thank you to these amazing Friendors!

A Romantic Oyster and blush wedding at the Virginia Beach beach Hilton

Ethan

and

Anne

Meet Ethan and Anne. She is a school teacher who adores her chocolate lab named Beau. He is a Physical Therapist who adores Anne. While they both attended JMU, their paths did not cross until after graduation where the two connected on popular dating app.

Their first date was at a local beer and tasting room in VA Beach. They had to meet somewhere Anne was able to bring her four legged babe Beau because they are a packaged deal of course! If Beau didn’t approve, there would be no hope for Ethan!

They couple grew close over their favorite wine and beer and the conversation seemed to flow flawlessly. So much so, that Ethan and Anne had a second date the very next day.

Ethan’s proposal to Anne was simply perfect. He set up their living room with roses, a personal letter, and several pictures in the center of the room to surprise Anne upon her arrival home from work. In the letter, Ethan made it seem as though he was running a few errands and would be home shortly but that he had left an early Christmas present in the kitchen for her. (Little did Anne know, he was actually behind their kitchen door, already down on one knee holding the ring!) In Ethan’s words: “I said a few words, a few tears were shed, and she said yes!”

The two were wed in an intimate room overlooking the Atlantic Ocean at the Virginia Beach Hilton. Anne is big into oyster restoration, so it only makes sense that the theme of the wedding was blush, white, gold and oysters! And we cannot forget the unique oyster garland accents and greenery which were absolute standouts.

I think I spotted every guest on that dance floor at least once dancing to band. It was a beautiful evening to celebrate Mr and Mrs Emmons!

Savannah

& Clay

Clay and Savannah first laid eyes on each other, or should I say ears on each other, in a school classroom. Clay was in the front of the class reading while Savannah heard him from another room. It was at that point she knew this was a man she MUST meet!

Their path to happily ever after began with a day trip to the mountains with Savannah’s parents. As the elevation increased, so did the couple’s fondness of each other. From there on out, the two would meet up after school in an attempt to get to know each other more.

A few years later, on Nevada Beach in South Lake Tahoe California, Clay dropped down to one knee, during sunset. It was perfect. Although, not much of a surprise! Clay was nervous the entire evening and kept grabbing his pocket! So Savannah new something was in the works.

On the big day, Clay wore a navy blue suit and blush tie, Savannah wore a transcendent off the shoulder white dress. The two said ‘I Do’ during an intimate ceremony at the Flyway Lodge. Along with family, Ernie, the couples rescue boxer was also in attendance. Check out his ADORABLE dog tux!

The love these two share is truly infectious! I am beyond honored to have been apart of this magical day!

A Romantic candlelit spring wedding at the Historic Post Office

Claira &

Trae

Hampton Virginia

Meet Trae and Claira. Trae is a good ole boy who loves to hunt and fish (check out his super cool wedding band with deer and hunting dogs engraved on it!) while Claira is your gorgeous ,southern, sorority girl. Despite this seemingly opposite nature, these two were made for one another.

Their love story began at the tender age of 15, before drivers licenses. Their families seemed to always cross paths, but the two stayed strangers until one day, when Trae made the first move. From there on out, it had seemed as if the stars aligned and the two became inseparable. With a love this young, their first date was in Nags Head with Claira's family to explore the beach and little shops. That day made for an ever lasting bond.

Trae knew this woman would be his wife, so he decided not to waste anymore time and pop the question during Claira's celebration party for the completion of her Master's Degree. He got down on one knee, in front of Claira's entire family, and displayed a collage of photos of the couple throughout the years while asking her to be his forever.

Like most couples in the era of Covid, the path to "I Do" was longer than anticipated. With the arrival of the big day, the theme of the wedding could not be more perfect, 'romantic candlelit green and sky blue.' The team from House of Oak helped turn this vision to life. Romantic gold table decor was adjusted perfectly on top of the sky blue linens. Surrounded by soft white drapery, the bride and groom entered their ceremony site and shared their first kiss under the chandelier with close family and friends watching.

Even weather on their day even agreed, bright sky blues with a warm romantic sunset where the light Illuminated their skin so delightful as they smooch on the front steps of the Historic Post office.

Claira looked like an angel and trust me, the way Trae looked at her was ethereal. Cheers to the new bride and groom!
